The annual Washington Post Beer Madness is the only March Madness brackets that I follow.
In a free-for-all between two very disparate beers -- a quenching, citrusy Belgian-style ale with notes of coriander and ginger, and a hoppy American pale ale -- the Ommegang Hennepin was outpunched by the Troegs HopBack Amber, which won handily by a 7-2 score.Although, I could have told you that specialty beers do not win overall beer competitions (you either love 'em or hate 'em), I am proud that Ommegang Hennepin made it all the way to the finals. At least the finals consisted of two Ales, which excepting for Octoberfest lager, I think are the better flavored brews.
